Mama Mia

I saw this movie first with Jennifer and Mandy the other night. Then Mom, Grandma, Aunt Cathy, Aunt Julie, and I went to see it yesterday. I laughed just as hard the second time! It was so good. I had so much fun with my new friends, and fun with the girls in my family. It was great.

The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood

For School, we have been reading The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle. So one night, the boys wanted me to make some pictures of them playing Sherwood Forrest. The girls, who were already in the bed, heard the news, and begged to come out and play. And who was I to deny the bond of siblings in a school field trip to the corner of the yard. David is wearing his grandfathers Robin Hood Hat. My Dad wore this in a play in elementary school. I am still amazed is how each of the kids knows their "role". David is always the lead character and Caleb the supporting. So as you might have guessed, David is Robin hood and Caleb is Little John. The girls take turn in being the lead girl. This time, Julia is playing Maid Marion. Abigail is a village girl.

OLYMPIC-ITIS

Can you really have too much Olympics?

You know we might be watching too much when:

David was figuring out the math to see if he would be old enough to compete in London in 2012.

Caleb asked to go swimming so he could work on his own personal record.

Abigail & Julia tried to use their ballet bar as the uneven bars.

The pastor asked me why I looked so tired last night, And I had to explain how the USA Girls Gymnanstic Team needed me to stay up til 1:30 AM to cheer them on to their silver medal!

You see today's copy of the Phenix Citizen and hope Mrs. Fran remembers to tell Michael (Phelps) hello for your family!

You are counting down how many minutes until Michael (again, Phelps) swims tonight.

Your Direct TV went out in the storm and the kids had to make a pallet on the floor in the bedroom to watch the games on the 12 inch tv.

David learned the largest player in the games was the several hundred pound player from GUAM! And David said he could go there now, they must have food!

Your husband played World of Warcraft (online computer game) just so he could get all his players Olympic outfits!

You are already thinking on the Winter Games

When standing in the check-out line at the Piggly Wiggly, Julia tells the woman in line behind us (who is looking at the cover of the newspaper), "That is Michael Phelps." "Me and my boys watch him every night."

And you heard your children adding up what it might cost to take them to London. Cause we need to SEE the next one!

I am sure there will be more in the coming days!!

Getting ready to go BACK TO SCHOOL!

We had a fun day today. We spent the day doing some prep work for school. We read our next Magic Tree House book, Civil War on Sunday. David wanted to know if we had any people in our family who fought in the Civil War, so we made a quick phone call to Grandma Jan and checked out the family tree. Then we moved on to some other activities.

Cute Boys!

We looked at fractions and used our weighted fraction pieces to see what combination of fractions make a whole unit.

Then we used Fraction Pizza manipulative's. All these fun manipulative's came from Learning Resources. Grandma Jan and I just love to buy educational stuff for the kids!!

The boys decided it would be fun to mix and make some soaps. They learned this from Tyler in Texas. So they tinkered around making good smelling stuff.

And of course, when we have school, we sometimes have trouble listening to one another. So today I stopped my lesson, blindfolded the boys, and made the girls hide. The girls called their names until the boys could find them. This helped all the kids re-focus on listening to each other and the rest of the lesson went smoothly.

Then David and I cooked dinner, while the others cleaned the house up for Daddy. After dinner, all the kids got into their pajamas and we settled in for our family night activity (see below), MOVIE NIGHT. We watched Bridge to Terabithia. Now, the girls are in the bed, and the boys are 3 minutes away from theirs.

Chris decided we needed to have some concentrated family time each night. So using card protectors we all added the activity we wanted. Here is what the deck looks like so far:
Family Worship (David's) - Monday Night
Science Experiment (Caleb's) - Tuesday Night
Movie Night (Chris') - Thursday Night
Talent Show
Making a Movie
Game Night
Family Tea Party (guess who wanted this?)
Mixed - Up Family (Chris & I become the kids)
Nature Walk
